Route Description

The route climbs through forest before reaching the east slopes. Moderate Class 2 terrain leads to the long summit ridge. Many hikers continue to Tabeguache Peak via the connecting ridge for a two-summit day.

Gear & Preparation

The Shavano-Tabeguache traverse adds 2 miles and 1000+ feet of additional gain. Start early for the combo climb. Trail can be faint in sections - follow cairns above treeline.
